When you are bored of Montpellier, France offers you nice towns to visit around. As well, South of France provides always a nice weather to travel at any time. One of the cities that I have visited were: Avignon, Béziers, Sète, Saint-Guilhem-Le Désert, Perpignan and many others lovely towns.
Sète is located on the French Mediterranean coast is probably the best town for fish and seafood. As well as their traditional dish that I have tried and enjoyed the most was home-made Tielle.
What to do in Sète?
Exploring the town is the best way to start to know it better. And you could start doing in it from the port, where you will be able to discover many fishing boats, which gives a prettiness to the town. And then get lost in a centre of Sète allowing you to explore the tiny streets of Sète. After, why not to see a Mont-St-Clair. It is a hill surrounding the town of Sète. But I would recommend you to get a bus or a taxi that will help you to get there faster and easier without sweats during the hot days (like I did – definitely do not recommend).
Once you are done with visiting, then you could enjoy your dinner with seafood or delicious fish plates and of course a glass of a French wine.
How to get here?
From Montpellier, you are able to take a bus, Line 302 to Gignac and Line 308 to St Guilhem. If I remember well it was a very cheap trip.
What to do here?
On the way to Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert, you will see an amazing gorge and a bridge, the name of this place is called Pont du Diable. Basically, it means Devils Bridge. Sounds scary! Yeah, I know! And it is scary when you have to jump from a cliff to a very very cold river. But well this is how you forget about your fears. Anyway, probably I would never do it again in my life. It is a scary thing, but a good memory how brave I was. Another option instead of jumping into the river, you can get to the tanning area where you will be able to get into the river easily after getting hot of the summer sun. As well, Pont du Diable offers you a canoeing, where you can move to see deeper the gorge. It is a really lovely time to spend for at least one day. For the next day, you can visit a town of Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert. It is a very small town, but a very historic and nice village to see once in a life. At the same time, you could enjoy specialities from there and of course lots of wine!!!
